The height of the net shall be 2.43 m (7’ 11 5/8”) for men and 2.24 m (7’ 4 1/8”) for women.
The net height is measured from the center of the playing court with a measuring device.
The two ends of the net (over the sidelines) must both be at the same height from the playing surface and must not exceed the official height by more than 2 cm (3/4").

Every court is is the same distance from the serive line to the net, but the net height varies. The whole court, both sides, are a total of sixty feet, which menas it is thirt feet to the net from the service line. The court is also thirty feet wide. The net height varies depending on the age. I am guessing that your net was 7' because I am 5'7 and i can also touch the top of the net flatfooted, and I play on a 7'4 net, and you are six inches shorter than me and if you are on your tiptoes then that give you two or three inches, so now you are about 5'4 and your arms add about a foot and half wich is about 7'. But as yo get older, the net will be higher.

http://www.volleyball.org/rules/basic_rules.html
go to that site and go about 3/4 of the way down and you will see a chart. the height of a volleyball net varies by sex (gender) and age. So the heights that you got in previous answers are for men and women ages 15-18. I hope this helps
