I'm looking for new volleyball shoes and decided that I would like to try a pair of Mizuno shoes. Problem is, I don't know which is the best one. Wave rallys, wave bolts, or wave lightnings (7 or RX)? I'm an outside hitter, but might play libero/DS. Please give some advice for which shoe I should get!

Position: There is no position specific volleyball shoe. Any volleyball specific shoe will meet all of your volleyball needs.

Mizuno:

Wave Lightning and Wave Tornado are Mizunos two premier volleyball shoes. I've worn both (the tornado for 5 years, and the lightning for 2). I thought the lightning fit my foot better. It is also slightly more expensive. I find that Mizunos shoes are too wide for my foot; I'm always cranking my laces really tight.

I recently switched to Asics to give them a try. They have their Pros and Cons. I think I like them more though.

Asics shoes are generally a little heavier. This is for a reason. There is more padding on the sides of the shoe and cushioning on the sole of the shoe. It also fits a narrower foot. In terms of traction, they are all pretty equal.

In summary, the Mizuno is probably a little better in performance but it sacrifices comfort at the expense of weight. The Mizuno also breaths better than the Asics. The Asics is overall better for me though. The fit and comfort make up for its slight loss in performance.

(I can finally write a shoe review and include Asics. I've only had my current Asics pair for a month or so; I don't remember the model, but it was the most expensive).

Newest Mizuno Volleyball Shoes
?

It is completely your personal preference. I like trying the newest Mizuno shoes they offer because those are usually more advanced and meet more of my criteria. I recommend "window-shopping" online and looking at the different types of Mizunos, read the description with the shoe and take note of whether or not it matches up with your personal preferences! Good luck!

believe it or not,-the only volleyball shoes i have ever worn are mizuno wave lightning. they fit true to size- but if you wear ankle braces or double socks, then it wouldnt hurt to go up a half size. so an 8 or possibly an 8.5 would work.
